Loire & Indre by Bike cycling loops

Ideally located, our cycling friends will love it! At the crossroads of the Indre and Loire à Vélo loops, visit the region at your own pace while remaining close to nature. The relatively flat relief makes the route accessible to all ages. The facilities along the route are also designed to accommodate cyclists! Azay-le-Rideau, a historic village with many surprises…

In the heart of the Loire Valley, this small typical and historic village has everything to welcome you. Just a few steps away from the campsite, its semi-pedestrianised town centre has all the necessary amenities: shops, boutiques, bakeries, etc. Numerous restaurants with varied menus will give you a taste of the local gastronomy, a tasty stopover not to be missed! In summer, go to the guinguette of Azay-le-Rideau, to share a relaxing moment with friends or family on the banks of the Indre. Canoesand kayaks can be hired.

    Stand up paddle rides

The Indre, a small river that meets the Loire and crosses the campsite, is a calm river, easy to navigate. During the season, we offer you the possibility to rent a paddle from the campsite (thanks to our partner Paule & Mike) in order to admire this wild environment from the river. It is possible to go all the way to the castle, an angle that you will not be able to enjoy otherwise! An ideal day out to share with your group.

    Growing up

    Castle of Azay-le-Rideau

Just a few metres away from the campsite, discover the emblematic Renaissance castle of Azay-le-Rideau. Take a walk through the park of the castle, whose water mirrors are its unique feature. Built on an island in the middle of the Indre during the reign of François the Ist, this architectural masterpiece welcomes you all year round. In summer, sound and light shows are offered for more unusual visits.

    Château de l’Islette

This charming 16th century castle is also built on an island in the middle of the Indre, offering a very bucolic setting. This is an ideal family day out: you can picnic in the park. In summer, enjoy group picnics on Friday evenings by the river. Evening events are also organised: a way to enjoy the river a little longer and more serenely.

    Maurice Dufresne Museum

For the curious and vintage lovers, an impressive collection of old objects and vehicles is stored in the Maurice Dufresne Museum. Located near Azay-le-Rideau at the “Moulin de Marnay” on the banks of the Indre, travel through time, ideal for young and old!

    Vallée Troglodytique des Goupillères

These old troglodytic farms have been preserved to allow you discover how life was in the past. Carved out of the tufa stone, typical of the region, they sheltered farmers from the Middle Ages to the last century. Today, enjoy an outing and discover how the stones used to build our castles were extracted.

    A wine region

You can’t visit Azay without stopping at a winery. Landscapes drawn by the vineyards, it will be difficult to make a choice… Among the local actors, the Château de l’Aulée offers guided tours with wine tasting (5 minutes drive from the campsite). Crémant, whites, rosés or reds, the famous wines of Chinon or Azay will make you see all the colours. Enjoy wine tasting from the campsite in high season and meet the producers!

    Castle of Langeais

10kms from the campsite, discover the Château de Langeais: a jewel of the Renaissance with medieval inspiration. In the heart of the Loire Valley, this former royal estate offers you the opportunity to visit numerous rooms with medieval furniture and to explore its playful park. In summer, admire the bird of prey shows and numerous activities. Something to please both young and old!

Where are we heading to next ?

Jardins & Château de Villandry …

Get away from it all and visit the Château de Villandry and its French gardens, only 12 kms away from the campsite. Between the Renaissance and the 20th century, the gardens have evolved with the castle. In all seasons, you will be amazed… Remember to buy your tickets at a preferential rate from the campsite reception! Why not stop off at Camping La Confluence in Savonnières? Accessible from the Loire à Vélo and located 2kms from Villandry, this campsite welcomes you from April to October in accommodation or pitches.
